Meet Queen Sassy!
Oh Lord she comin’!!! That is what pops in our mind when you first she
Sassy 😉 This lady is Thick and she knows it! Sassy is also unlike
most cats… she thinks, wait she KNOWS she is a QUEEN through and through.
Coming in at a bodacious 17lbs, she commands the room whenever she enters.
Sassy is 6.5 years old and originally was found on reservation land in
South Dakota. She found her way to her current foster home back in 2021.
Unfortunately, the original rescue organization that took responsibility
for her did some initial vetting and then left her and her foster high and
dry. Neither Sassy, nor the foster family deserved to be left without
options. That is when RPAW comes in. When we found out about this, we knew
that this foster needed help and so did Sassy. You see, it wasn’t just
Sassy… There are two other cats in the same situation. We will be posting
them as well.
Now, June of 2025 Sassy is re-entering the adoption world and is looking
for her actual forever home and we will support her and her foster until
that happens. Sassy is a special girl and she is a sensitive girl deep
down, even though her outside demeanor is tough. Think Sassy from the
Homeward Bound movies 😉
Sassy would love to be in a home, a top her throne, as an only animal. She
does fine with other cats but she really wants to be spoiled. She also
needs a place that understands that she is not a cuddly cat or one that
really seeks out attention, but rather she likes to just exist in the
presence of her humans. A quiet home without a lot of visitors, or visitors
that are low key would be best.
We know this is a HUGE ask and that she may sit with us for a long time,
but we KNOW that there is someone out there that has a great spot for a
hefty lady who doesn’t ask for much  ❤

Skeeter

By Adoptable Dogs No Comments

This amazing old soul is about 10 years old. He is likely a Great
Dane/Boxer mix and weighs just over 80lbs. He is a fit older gentleman and
loves to go for walks and is even trained to go for walks along side a
bike.
Our hearts hurt for Skeeter because he had a wonderful owner his entire
life. His owner was a homebody and did not have any friends or family…
just Skeeter. They lived in a small town in Missouri and the entire
community knew Skeeter and his owner. They would ride into town, owner on a
bike and Skeeter walking beside. Whenever his person needed to go into a
store Skeeter would be tied outside the door and would wait patiently until
his person came back.
Unfortunately, Skeeter’s best friend died recently. Due to the fact he did
not have any family or friends, no one knew he had passed for days. Finally
people started to notice they hadn’t seen him or Skeeter and when the
police did a welfare check they found them.
Skeeter has lost everything. He ended up being impounded at the local
animal control and unfortunately that area has a large pet overpopulation
problem. The shelters and rescues are so overcrowded and overwhelmed that
they can hardly keep up. Skeeter started having seizures at the impound.
The fact that he was old, a large breed and now had a medical issue meant
that his chances of leaving there alive was next to none.
Someone posted him on Facebook and explained his story and that was shared.
It was shared enough times that we saw it. We do not normally pull out of
state animals because there are so many in need here, however we knew he
fit our mission perfectly. So we offered to take him.
He arrived this week and we were able to get all of his vetting updated.
Thankfully he was started on a seizure medication prior to coming to us. He
has not had any seizures since being on them so we feel he is well managed.
It is a twice a day medication and fairly inexpensive.
Skeeter loves people and would love nothing more than retiring to a home
where people were around most of the time. He is a slow going guy and a
great couch buddy. He gets along great with dogs. We don’t know how he is
with cats but he didn’t seem interested in them at the clinic. He would be
fine with children. He is house trained.

Wilson

By Adoptable Dogs No Comments

This is another incredible dog who was dumped simply because he has a
special need. Wilson is about 2 years old and he is one of the most
beautiful Black Labs you have ever seen. Weighing in at 75lbs, this sleek,
jet black boy is a true gem.
Wilson has a condition called SARDS (Sudden acquired retinal degeneration
syndrome). SARDS is poorly understood condition that causes rapid and
irreversible blindness in dogs. It affects the retina, the structure at the
back of the eye that works like a camera’s film.
Unfortunately, there is no treatment or cure for this condition and at this
time Wilson is almost completely blind. He is definitely getting use to
this new blindness, but his is taking this condition as a champ.
Wilson’s previous owners turned him in to a local shelter as a “stray” and
honestly, it is their loss. This boy is simply amazing! He is alert, loyal
and knows many commands. He loves people and adventures and dogs. He would
love to be with an active family because he needs to be busy🙂

Delilah

By Adoptable Dogs No Comments

This sweet lady was found wandering the city streets with a fractured
elbow. A good Samaritan found her and brought her to the emergency clinic.
She was then transferred to animal control and no owner was found.
When Delilah arrived, we sent her x-rays to our amazing orthopedic surgeon
and she said she would attempt to fix the fracture. Unfortunately, when she
opened up the area it was determined that it was not repairable. We moved
forward with amputation so that she doesn’t have lifelong pain.
Delilah is about 6 months old and our guesses on breeds are all over the
place haha 😄. She has a thick coat like an Akita and a square
head from possibly boxer. She is currently around 30lbs and sweet a pie.
She gets along with other dogs and is a typical puppy. We know she would do
well in any home ❤️
