This is another incredible dog who was dumped simply because he has a
special need. Wilson is about 2 years old and he is one of the most
beautiful Black Labs you have ever seen. Weighing in at 75lbs, this sleek,
jet black boy is a true gem.
Wilson has a condition called SARDS (Sudden acquired retinal degeneration
syndrome). SARDS is poorly understood condition that causes rapid and
irreversible blindness in dogs. It affects the retina, the structure at the
back of the eye that works like a camera’s film.
Unfortunately, there is no treatment or cure for this condition and at this
time Wilson is almost completely blind. He is definitely getting use to
this new blindness, but his is taking this condition as a champ.
Wilson’s previous owners turned him in to a local shelter as a “stray” and
honestly, it is their loss. This boy is simply amazing! He is alert, loyal
and knows many commands. He loves people and adventures and dogs. He would
love to be with an active family because he needs to be busy🙂
